Kunsthaus Zurich showed the Marc Rich Collection
From 20th June to 3rd August 2008 the Kunsthaus Zurich showed photographs of the Marc Rich Collection. This donation by the Rich Foundations is a selection of 74 photographs – mainly ‘vintage prints’ – tracing the course of art-photography since the mid-19th century. The Marc Rich Collection spans an arc from the early pioneers of photography (Henry Fox Talbot, Charles Marville) via the Pictorialism of the ‘Photo Secession’ (Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Steichen), ‘straight photography’ (Paul Strand, Edward Weston, Ansel Adams), Surrealism, Constructivism and Bauhaus (Man Ray, László Moholy-Nagy, Herbert Bayer) and the poetic, documentary Realism of the mid-20th century (Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank). The motives range from architecture and landscapes to sculptural objects and the sphere of human life.
